Xovis wins S-GE Export Award 2024

Xovis AG, based in Zollikofen in the canton of Bern, received the Export Award 2024 from Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE) on 23 April. The company, which was founded in 2008, generates 95 per cent of its annual turnover of over 30 million Swiss francs overseas, according to a statement. With the help of highly sensitive sensors from Xovis, the number of people in rooms can be recorded and interpreted. This information is used at airports, in the retail sector or by railway operators to regulate waiting times, deploy staff in a targeted manner or adapt the fleet to the volume of passengers.

“Our aim is to penetrate new markets – and to do so, we’re focusing on large-scale projects with airports or collaboration with partners in the retail sector, smart buildings or transport,” Denis Ranke, CFO/COO Xovis AG, is quoted as saying. “These function as an entry point and serve as a reference for us to tap into additional areas of the local market. Plus, they enable us to establish a further growth driver through our partner business.”

Most of Xovis AG’s 140 employees work at the headquarters in Zollikofen. This is also where all the data from the 300,000 sensors used worldwide is collated. The sensors are produced exclusively in Switzerland. Xovis has a branch in Boston and is planning another in Berlin.

“Xovis AG focuses on a clear customer-centric approach, high quality and scalable offerings,” Ralph Siegl, jury president, said of the decision. “This strategy allows the company to grow rapidly, even in newly developed segments.” 

The jury selected three finalists from among numerous entries. These included Nüssli AG, a global specialist in temporary structures from Hüttwilen in the canton of Thurgau, and the engineering company Lombardi from Giubiasco in the canton of Ticino.

The award was presented by S-GE President Ruth Metzler-Arnold at this year's International Trade Forum at the Kongresshaus Zurich. The theme of the forum was “Sustainability as a driver for growth: from trend to competitive advantage in international business”. ce/js
